Hello
I transform in-house marketing teams to supercharge brand growth.
I spent much of my career at a respected Chicago agency that believed brands should shape every interaction, customers are the ultimate tie-breaker, and activations should prioritize business results over marketing KPIs.
As clients began in-housing more and more marketing capabilities, I saw firsthand their challenges in forming effective teams. While agencies get a lot of things wrong, they do a great job of inspiring creativity, curiosity, and experimentation. Clients benefit from being close to the products and services they create but building a creative environment focused on solving real consumer problems does not always come naturally. I saw an opportunity to leverage my experience to bring the strengths of both sides together to help in-house marketing teams be more effective.
I have a proven playbook to give in-house teams the information, insights, and workflows to increase their business impact. Most recently, I transformed a collection of disparate marketing resources spending 75% of their time on non-revenue generating activities into a unified center of excellence supporting multiple brands and developing campaigns that increased sales by as much as 70%.

There are five critical areas to unlocking a team's potential. While every situation is different, by (quickly) understanding the current state of fluency in each area, I can prioritize actions that lead to more effective activations and improved business alignment.

My Leadership Style
The Only Rule That Matters:
Don't Be An Asshole
Great teams start with great people and I have learned that great people tend not to hang out with jerks. Marketing is not as easy as non-marketers think so let's not make things harder on ourselves by adding in egos, selfish behavior, and pointing fingers when things go wrong.
I have a history of hiring talented people and putting them in a position to exceed their already high expectations for themselves. We celebrate the wins and absorb the failures, together. After 25 years, I am proud to maintain close friendships with former bosses, peers, teammates (across marketing disciplines), and client partners.

Traveling with teammates to distant lands just for fun is one of my career KPIs.

Away From The Office
When I am not helping companies grow, I spend time sharing porch wine with my amazing wife, helping raise our two daughters, exploring the world, enjoying the occasional Cubs game, and always being thankful for great friends and family.
